Microneedling
Stimulate collagen for refined texture, tone, and resilience.
Microneedling is one of the most quietly effective treatments in skin care. It works with your own biology rather than against it: a controlled injury at the surface that prompts the deeper layers to rebuild collagen and elastin in response.
The result is not dramatic on day one. It is the kind of change you notice over weeks — a refinement of texture, a fading of post-acne marks, a tightness in the skin that wasn’t there before. A treatment of compounding returns.
At Simply Me, microneedling is most often paired with exosomes or PDRN to amplify the regenerative response. The needling creates the channels; the topicals or biologics deliver the signal.
How it works
Microneedling uses a sterile, motorized device with a cluster of fine needles that create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin at a precisely controlled depth. These micro-injuries trigger the body’s wound-healing cascade — inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling — over the following weeks.
During the proliferation phase, fibroblasts produce new collagen and elastin. Over months, the dermal matrix is reorganized. This is the same biology behind why your skin can heal a small cut without a scar; we are simply directing it with intention.
Depth is calibrated to the goal. Shallower passes refine surface texture and improve product penetration. Deeper passes treat acne scarring, stretch marks, and laxity. We choose the setting based on what we are trying to achieve and what your skin can tolerate.
When biologics like PDRN or exosomes are applied during or after the treatment, the channels created by the needles allow them to reach the dermis directly, where they amplify the regenerative response.
What to expect
We begin with cleansing and a topical numbing cream applied for thirty to forty-five minutes. The treatment itself takes fifteen to thirty minutes depending on the area — face, neck, décolletage, or some combination.
The sensation is a vibrating pressure rather than a sharp pain. Most patients tolerate it well. Pinpoint bleeding is normal and expected; it is a sign of the depth needed for collagen response.
Immediately after, your skin will look pink to red, similar to a moderate sunburn. You may feel warm and tight for a few hours. By the next morning, most patients are presentable. By day two or three, pink fades and a fine sandpaper texture takes its place as the surface micro-channels heal.
Who it’s right for
- Adults seeking improvement in skin texture, tone, or fine lines
- Patients with acne scarring, post-inflammatory pigmentation, or enlarged pores
- Those wanting a non-energy-based alternative to laser resurfacing
- Patients building a regenerative protocol with exosomes or PDRN
Microneedling is not appropriate during active acne breakouts, for patients with active skin infections, certain autoimmune conditions, or those on isotretinoin within the past six months. We screen carefully at consultation.
After care
- Avoid washing the face for the rest of the treatment day.
- Use a gentle, non-active cleanser for forty-eight hours.
- No retinoids, acids, or exfoliants for five to seven days.
- No sun exposure or strenuous heat for forty-eight hours; SPF daily thereafter.
- Expect pinkness for one to three days, fine flaking around days three to five.
- Initial smoothness is visible within a week. Collagen-driven results compound over four to twelve weeks.
- A series of three to six sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, is standard for meaningful change.
Frequently asked questions
How much does microneedling cost?
Pricing depends on the area treated and whether biologics — exosomes, PDRN — are added to the protocol. Series pricing is offered, since results compound across sessions.
Is microneedling painful?
With topical numbing, most patients describe it as a vibrating pressure rather than pain. Bonier areas like the forehead and jawline can feel sharper.
How is medical microneedling different from a derma roller?
Medical microneedling uses a motorized device with calibrated depth and sterile, single-use cartridges. Derma rollers create shallow, inconsistent channels and carry a higher infection risk. The treatments are not equivalent.
How many microneedling sessions do I need?
Most patients begin with a series of three to six sessions, four to six weeks apart, then move to maintenance every few months. Acne scarring or laxity may require a longer series.
Can microneedling be combined with exosomes?
Yes. Exosomes are a common same-day pairing. We space microneedling and energy-based devices to allow full healing between.
Is there real downtime?
Plan for one to three days of pinkness. Most patients schedule treatments later in the week to allow a quieter weekend recovery.
Who performs the treatment?
Microneedling at Simply Me is performed by trained medical providers, with depth and protocol set by the supervising clinician.
Often paired with
-
Exosomes
Cellular signaling molecules that amplify regeneration when layered into treatment.
-
PDRN
Polydeoxyribonucleotide therapy supporting skin regeneration.
